Before shaving a dog, it is crucial to wash and blow dry your dog to prevent damage to the blade. Dirty or severely knotted hair can lead to debris buildup, causing blade damage and shortening its lifespan. Blade sets should be oiled daily, ideally before each grooming session.

If the blade still cannot cut, hair may be trapped between the upper and lower blade. Remove the blade from the clipper, clean the blades with a dry cloth, and apply clipper oil where the blades meet. Cleaning blades can be done by running them in a shallow pan of clipper oil or blade cleaner while the clipper is operating.

White hairs on the blades are normal due to residue from factory testing.
